Why do We Take Photos

As I scan family albums and stacks of old photos I think about how awesome it is that these memories have been saved. I think about how much fun this generation and future ones will enjoy seeing the faces of their families. The stories that are captured by looking at our old photos are preserved. These days I watch crowds of people snapping photos with their phones. These photos are often shared immediately on social media. I see what people are having for lunch, what their new shoes look like, and even what their sores look like. It seems that photos are now used to interact with each other unlike before the digital age when we simply wanted to preserve memories in time and share special experiences like trips, parties, family gatherings and special visual scenes that we enjoyed. Hopefully youth today are saving some of these photos so their family faces and memories can also be shared by future generations as well for their own children when they grow up.
